Tunisia targets global phosphate leadership and industrial digitalization
Tunisia is pursuing strategic initiatives to modernize its industrial and mining sectors. During the 5th Egyptian Mining Forum, Minister Salah Zouari expressed the country's ambition to regain its position as a global leader in phosphates and derivatives. To achieve this, the government aims to coordinate stakeholders, advance mining research, and provide private investors with geological data and incentives. The mining sector remains a pillar of the Tunisian economy, supported by diverse resources including lead, zinc, iron, and potash.
In parallel, the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, alongside the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII), has launched the 'Label I4.0' and the Tunisian Intelligent Manufacturing Assessment (TIMA) tool. Developed in partnership with the European Union and GIZ Tunisia, these initiatives support the National Strategy for Industry and Innovation 2035. The goal is to drive digital transformation through the 'HUB Industrie 4.0', which assists companies in assessing digital maturity and transitioning toward modern, automated production models to enhance international competitiveness.
