Rome East reports explosion near car rental amid regional emergencies
A series of accidents and emergencies occurred across various Italian regions. In Rome East, an explosive device detonated in front of a car rental agency, prompting Nicola Franco, president of Municipio VI, to call for increased police presence and the establishment of red zones to combat criminal activity.
In Naples, a fire at the Pianura ecological island prompted health warnings for residents to keep windows closed due to potential toxic fumes. Meanwhile, in Roseto degli Abruzzi, an apartment fire forced an elderly couple to seek refuge on a balcony before being rescued by firefighters.
Road incidents were reported in several locations: a bus caught fire on the SS172 near Martina Franca; a drunk driver caused chaos on the A2 motorway between Mileto and Rosarno; and multiple collisions occurred in Cerignola, including a crash in viale USA that required helicopter assistance. In Milan, a 50-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision in the Lampugnano area.
