Turkcell and TÜBİTAK test domestic 6G smart surface technologies

Turkcell and TÜBİTAK have successfully conducted the first field tests of domestically developed 6G network solutions in Turkey. The collaboration focused on smart surface technologies, which are fundamental building blocks for next-generation communication.

Using prototype equipment developed with local resources, the teams tested both static and adaptive smart surface designs at commercial-grade test infrastructures located at Turkcell Kartal Plaza and the TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus. The tests demonstrated that these designs significantly enhance signal performance and coverage.

These smart surface prototypes aim to improve signal steering and connectivity, particularly in densely populated urban centers and indoor areas where high-frequency bands often face coverage limitations. This development is intended to strengthen Turkey's competitive position in the global 6G standardization process.
