Turkey advances earthquake‑resistant housing projects in Elazığ and Hakkari

Elazığ Municipality held a foundation ceremony for a new urban‑transformation project in Doğukent neighbourhood. The initiative will deliver 1,800 earthquake‑resistant homes across 42 parcels, with municipal urban‑transformation director Fatih Çelik, contractor Metin Çoban and local officials attending the event.

In Yüksekova district of Hakkari, the State Housing Authority (TOKİ) began construction of a 48‑unit residential project on the Pizok site in Esentepe neighbourhood. The three‑block complex emphasizes seismic safety, involves 80 workers, and is overseen by project chief Umut Göktaş, who said the homes will provide modern, safe living spaces for residents.

Both projects are part of Turkey’s broader effort to rebuild safe, modern housing in areas affected by recent earthquakes.
