Turkey advances major highway and coastal road infrastructure projects
Turkey is advancing several major transportation infrastructure projects aimed at improving regional connectivity and reducing traffic congestion.
In Van, work continues on the Van Lake Coastal Road. A 20-kilometer section between İpekyolu and the University is complete, while construction is ongoing on a 30-kilometer stretch extending toward Çitören-Ayanis. The project aims to reach an initial 50-kilometer coastal route, with plans to connect the Ayanis and Amik regions to the Erciş road next year, eventually reaching a total length of 65 kilometers.
In Mersin, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi motorway project has reached a 98 percent physical completion rate. The 52-kilometer project, consisting of 41 kilometers of motorway and 11 kilometers of connection roads, includes 7 tunnels, 5 viaducts, 33 bridges, and 6 interchanges. Once finished, the motorway is expected to significantly reduce travel times, potentially cutting a 2.5-hour journey down to 18 minutes by diverting transit traffic from existing state roads.
