Turkey advances major highway projects in Bursa and Turgutlu
An 18.5 billion‑lira highway segment of the Gebze‑Orhangazi‑İzmir Otoyolu, covering the Ovaakça‑Konaklı stretch through Bursa's Nilüfer, Osmangazi and Mudanya districts, has entered the environmental assessment phase. The 900‑page Environmental Impact Report was submitted to the Ministry of Environment, and the In‑Depth Review Committee will meet on 17 July 2026 to evaluate the project, which aims to reduce traffic load on the north‑west corridor.
In Manisa Province, Turgutlu Mayor Çetin Akın announced that the Ergenekon Kavşağı project has reached the site‑handover stage. "Ergenekon Kavşağı'nda artık nihayet süreç sonlandırıldı," he said, adding that, barring unforeseen problems, the eight‑month construction schedule should eliminate the town’s longstanding traffic bottleneck.
Both initiatives are part of Turkey’s broader effort to upgrade road infrastructure and improve regional connectivity.
