Turkey advances major urban renewal projects in Istanbul and Tarsus

The state‑owned developer Emlak Konut GYO has launched the Fatih Kentsel Dönüşüm project in Istanbul's historic Fatih district. The plan, approved by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, will replace the existing Fatih Site with 338 new homes and three caretaker apartments, include a 338‑vehicle parking garage, and has an estimated investment of 1.537 billion Turkish lira.

In Mersin Province, Tarsus municipality began construction on the İsmetpaşa Mahallesi redevelopment after a foundation‑laying ceremony attended by Mayor Ali Boltaç. The project will deliver 11 blocks comprising 446 residential units and 48 commercial premises, with an emphasis on quality materials and rapid delivery to residents.

Both initiatives are part of Turkey's broader urban transformation programme aimed at renewing older neighbourhoods, improving housing stock, and revitalising local infrastructure.
