Turkish cities roll out major water and sewage infrastructure projects
Local authorities in several Turkish provinces have completed or begun large‑scale water‑related works. In Kocaeli, the municipal Social Life Center’s steel‑structure construction was finished, creating a multifunctional hub for cultural and social activities. Manisa’s Metropolitan Municipality repaired a flood‑damaged irrigation pond in Salihli’s Damatlı neighbourhood, restoring water supply for local farms. Samsun completed the first 950 m of a 2,450 m underground wastewater collector, using 2 m‑diameter concrete pipes to boost the city’s sewage capacity. Ordu’s Kumru Dam project saw installation of a 2,215 m drinking‑water pipeline that will serve 33 villages, securing water supply through 2070. Kocaeli’s Başiskele district received over 22 km of new water, sewer and fire‑hazard lines. Manisa also delivered cash and in‑kind aid to flood‑affected residents and launched new drinking‑water drilling in two Turgutlu neighbourhoods. These coordinated efforts aim to improve water security, sanitation and public services across the regions.
