Turkey advances water infrastructure in Harran Plain and Patnos
Turkey's State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) is advancing major water infrastructure projects in the Harran Plain and Patnos.
In the Harran Plain, a project is underway to repurpose drainage water to strengthen irrigation infrastructure. The initiative aims to meet the water needs of 23,530 hectares of agricultural land that previously lacked sufficient access. The project will include the construction of 16 regulators, 38 kilometers of transmission channels, 39 culverts, and 16 junction structures, along with 13 kilometers of service roads.
Simultaneously, the Patnos Drinking Water Treatment Plant, which draws water from the Patnos Dam, has reached 75% physical completion. Designed with a daily capacity of 40,000 cubic meters, the facility aims to produce 10 million cubic meters of high-quality drinking water annually. Construction of the administration and chemical buildings is complete, with mechanical equipment installation and automation system work currently in progress. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026.
