Turkey agricultural panels address water scarcity and climate change
In Sorgun, the municipality hosted a panel titled “Future of Agriculture and Rural Development,” bringing together the mayor Mustafa Erkut Ekinci, agricultural engineer Alparslan Tekbaş and Yozgat Bozok University dean Prof. Tuğrul Yakupoğlu. Participants stressed that water security precedes energy and food, urging more efficient and technologically advanced farming to safeguard regional food supply.
In Tekirdağ, the university‑run meeting on “Anıza Seed Planting in Thrace” featured Prof. Dr. Halim Orta and Agriculture and Forest Director Mehmet Aksoy. They highlighted climate‑change risks such as drought and floods and promoted the anıza planting method to reduce water use, lower input costs and protect soil.
Both events underscored the need for sustainable, water‑wise agriculture across Turkey.
