Turkey to Host COP31 Climate Summit with Australia Co‑Presidency

The 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) will be held in Antalya, Turkey from 9 to 20 November 2026, with Turkey serving as the conference President and host and Australia acting as President of Negotiations, a first‑of‑its‑kind co‑presidency arrangement.

The partnership was detailed at a public lecture on 8 June 2026 in Accra, Ghana, where Turkey’s deputy ambassador highlighted principles of dialogue, consensus and action, and the Australian High Commission described its facilitative role aimed at transparency, inclusiveness and real‑world results, especially for vulnerable regions such as Africa.

Ahead of the summit, the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee, together with the European Youth Forum, will organise an EU Youth Policy Dialogue on 1 October 2026, hosted by Commissioner for Climate Wopke Hoekstra. The event will solicit youth organisations’ policy recommendations to inform the EU’s negotiating position at COP31.
