Turkey and Bulgaria sign natural gas cooperation protocol
Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar met with Bulgarian Energy Minister Iva Petrova and Prime Minister Rumen Radev. The parties oversaw the signing of a protocol between Turkey’s state pipeline operator BOTAŞ and Bulgaria’s gas company Bulgargaz to strengthen natural‑gas trade.
The agreement updates the terms of an existing deal, confirms ongoing negotiations to revise the earlier contract, and commits both sides to expand and more efficiently use the natural‑gas transmission capacity between the two countries. Officials said the protocol will contribute to energy stability for Turkey, Bulgaria and the wider region.
