Turkey and Georgia target $5 billion trade, expand energy partnership

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar attended a reception marking Georgia’s Independence Day and praised the “strong friendship, mutual trust and shared vision” between Turkey and Georgia. He said the two countries have already reached a bilateral trade volume of $3 billion and aim to raise it to $5 billion by 2026, building on more than 100 high‑level visits scheduled through 2025.

Bayraktan highlighted joint energy projects that anchor the partnership, including the Baku‑Tbilisi‑Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku‑Tbilisi‑Erzurum natural‑gas line, the Southern Gas Corridor and TANAP. He also underscored the Green Electricity Transmission and Trade Project as a catalyst for renewable‑energy integration and regional grid security. The minister reaffirmed Turkey’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and independence.
