Global inflation trends show mixed results for July 2026

Global economic data for July 2026 reveals varying inflation trends across several major economies and sectors.

In China, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.5% year-on-year, while the Producer Price Index (PPI) increased 3.5%. A notable driver of price increases was the rise in consumer electronics, where AI-driven demand caused tablet, computer, and mobile phone prices to rise by 11.3%, 5.5%, and 1.0% respectively. This follows cost pressures on manufacturers like Apple and Xiaomi due to memory chip shortages.

Greece reported a slowdown in inflation, which eased to 3.4% in July from 4.4% in June. Despite this, housing and transportation costs remain high, with heating oil seeing a significant annual increase of 53.2%.

In Hungary, the average consumer price was 1.2% higher than a year ago. While food prices decreased by 1.1%, service inflation remained high, with theatre tickets and goods transport seeing notable increases.

Turkey continues to monitor geopolitical factors and disinflation efforts. The Central Bank of Turkey maintains a wait-and-see approach regarding policy rates, as the resumption of the Iran-US peace process could ease oil prices and support the inflation outlook. The country's net foreign exchange position has improved through significant FX purchases.
