Manisa's Gördes District Ends 22‑Year Water Shortage with New Infrastructure

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and the regional water authority (MASKİ) have begun a 120 million TL investment to permanently resolve a 22‑year drinking‑water shortage in the Gördes district. A 1 500 m³ capacity water reservoir foundation was laid by Mayor Besim Dutlulu, and the project will include a 38.5 km transmission line, a water‑lifting station, storage tanks and a remote‑monitoring SCADA system.

The new infrastructure is expected to increase the district’s water‑delivery capacity, improve pressure and quality, and enable rapid response to any future faults. Project leaders say completion is targeted for 2026, after which residents will have continuous, safe drinking water.

Mayor Dutlulu emphasized that reliable water service is a priority for citizens and described the investment as essential for the community’s future quality of life.
