Turkey and Tanzania target $1 billion in trade by 2030

Turkey and Tanzania aim to increase their bilateral trade volume to $1 billion by 2030. According to recent data, the total trade volume reached $354 million in 2025, growing from $283 million in the previous period.

During the Turkey-Tanzania Business Forum in Istanbul, Tanzanian Presidential Investment Office General Secretary Dr. Fred Matola Msemwa expressed a desire to expand the presence of Turkish investors in Tanzania, seeking to increase the number of Turkish-owned businesses from 24 to at least 100.

Erdem Arıoğlu, President of the DEIK/Turkey-Tanzania Business Council, proposed a shift toward a “Made with Tanzania” model. This approach suggests combining Turkish technology and production capabilities with Tanzanian resources to process raw materials locally, rather than just exporting them. This strategy aims to foster technology transfer, create jobs, and establish local supply chains. Furthermore, the partnership seeks to enable joint exports to third-party markets, leveraging Tanzania’s strategic logistics access to East and Central Africa via the Indian Ocean.
