Turkey and United States deepen defense industry ties at NATO summit

At the 36th NATO State and Government Leaders Summit in Ankara, a Turkey‑US Defence Industry Cooperation roundtable was held under the auspices of DEİK and the Turkey‑US Business Council. Participants included Turkish Deputy Defence Minister Salih Ayhan, U.S. Deputy Defence Secretary Michael Duffey, and senior representatives of the defence sectors from both countries.

The meeting focused on expanding joint production, technology sharing, and strengthening resilient supply chains. Delegates discussed raising bilateral defence trade from roughly $42 billion to $100 billion and highlighted the role of Turkish firm CANiK, a sponsor with production facilities in Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom, as a key contributor to the partnership.
