Turkey Sets August Date for Rental Increase Rate Based on July Inflation Data

The Turkish government will announce the legal ceiling for rent increases in August, using the 12‑month Consumer Price Index (CPI) average released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on 3 August 2026. The rate, applied to residential and commercial leases renewed after that date, will be tied to the July CPI average; any increase above this ceiling is not enforceable under the Turkish Civil Code.

In Eskişehir, thousands of tenants and landlords await the announcement, with the new limit expected to affect contracts renewed in August. The same procedure applies nationwide, meaning the forthcoming figure will shape rent adjustments for many Turkish households.

The upcoming release follows a recent Central Bank survey showing a slight decline in inflation expectations, and it underscores the state's effort to provide certainty in the housing market amid broader price pressures.
