Turkey announces new social rights for injured security personnel

Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş has announced that the application process for citizens injured during counter-terrorism operations who were not previously classified as disabled will begin on September 1, 2026. This follows a new law passed by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Eligible applicants include personnel from the Turkish Armed Forces, Gendarmerie General Command, Coast Guard Command, National Intelligence Organization (MİT), Police Service, and security guards. Applications must be submitted through the e-Devlet portal to the specific institution the individual was affiliated with at the time of the incident.

The new regulations also include measures to strengthen legal guarantees for the monthly payments of parents of martyrs, ensuring the total amount is not less than the net minimum wage. Additionally, benefits such as discounts on electricity, water, and travel will be extended to certain individuals injured during the July 15 coup attempt who were not previously categorized as disabled.
