Turkey automotive market sees 25% sales drop in July 2026

July 2026 vehicle registrations in Turkey fell sharply, with total car and light‑commercial vehicle sales dropping 25.0% year‑on‑year to 80,786 units, according to the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD). Car sales declined 25.79% to 62,478 units and light‑commercial sales fell 22.17% to 18,308 units. Over the January‑July period, total car sales were down 12.14% to 502,712 units and light‑commercial sales 5.05% to 136,253 units.

OYDER chairman Ömer Koyuncu warned that high financing costs and prolonged stock periods are forcing dealers to prepare loss budgets at the start of each month. He said the market slowdown is evident on the showroom floor and that consumers are postponing purchases.

Segment analysis showed SUVs dominated the market with a 65.5% share (329,443 units). The A, B and C vehicle segments together accounted for 84.4% of sales, with the C segment alone representing 55.1% (276,976 units). Renault was the top‑selling brand in July, moving 8,486 units, followed by Volkswagen and Fiat.
