Turkey automotive market sees price shifts and sales stagnation

The Turkish automotive market is experiencing a period of stagnation, with sales volumes down approximately 25% compared to the same period last year. While the extreme rise in vehicle costs has stabilized, annual value increases have remained limited to between 5% and 10%. This slowdown is attributed to high bank interest rates and investors preferring alternative assets like gold and foreign currency over vehicle purchases.

To combat weak demand and clear inventory, various brands and dealerships have introduced significant discounts for September. Despite rising exchange rates, some dealers are reducing their profit margins to offer competitive pricing. The domestic electric vehicle manufacturer, Togg, is noted by industry officials as a critical force in regulating the market, as its presence has pressured foreign and Chinese manufacturers to adjust their pricing strategies.

Entry-level vehicle prices in the current market start at approximately 1.44 million TL, with models such as the Opel Corsa and Fiat Egea among the most affordable options. The Togg T10X V1 RWD is listed at 1,909,048 TL.
