Turkey Bankers Association appointed COP31 financial partner
Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum announced that the Turkey Banks Association (TBB) will serve as the financial partner of the 31st UN Climate Conference (COP31), which Turkey will host. The declaration was made during a meeting of TBB’s Board of Directors in Istanbul, where Kurum highlighted the discipline, experience and institutional capacity of the Turkish finance sector as a key strength for the green transition.
TBB Chairman Alpaslan Çakar said the banking sector is positioning sustainability as a strategic priority, noting its responsibility in financing low‑carbon projects and managing climate‑related risks. He pointed to the sector’s assets exceeding 50 trillion TL and emphasized its role in supporting Turkey’s climate‑action agenda at COP31.
