Turkey becomes EU's third-largest market for new vehicle exports, trade hits €37bn
In 2025 the European Union exported 811,957 new vehicles to Turkey, valued at €18.8 billion, a 24.8 % increase from 2024. This made Turkey the EU's third‑largest market for new vehicle exports, accounting for 11.1 % of the EU's automotive export value (up from 8.3 % in 2024).
Turkey also sent 797,721 new vehicles to the EU, worth €18.2 billion, a rise of 18.5 % year‑on‑year. Electric cars formed a notable share: the EU exported 124,055 electric vehicles to Turkey (valued at €3.7 billion, 17.4 % of EU auto exports), while Turkey exported 7,517 electric cars to the EU (valued at €176 million, 1.3 % of its EU auto exports).
Commercial vehicle trade was significant as well: the EU shipped 98,481 commercial vehicles and buses to Turkey (€3.2 billion) and Turkey sent 230,833 such vehicles to the EU (€8.2 billion).
Overall automotive trade between Turkey and the EU reached about €37 billion, with EU‑produced cars covering 49 % of Turkey’s car sales and Turkish‑made cars holding a 30 % market share in Turkey, while Chinese cars accounted for 8 % of the Turkish market.
