TÜRASAŞ begins serial production of Turkey's first domestic high-speed train

Turkey has officially entered the serial production phase for its first domestic high-speed train project. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that while the first train set is undergoing successful testing—reaching speeds of 250 km/h during dynamic safety tests—production of the second set has already begun.

Developed by Türkiye Raylı Sistem Araçları Sanayii A.Ş. (TÜRASAŞ), the train sets consist of eight vehicles with a capacity of 577 passengers. Critical components, including the Train Control and Management System and the Traction System, are being designed and produced domestically in collaboration with ASELSAN.

The production schedule aims to deliver 14 high-speed train sets over two years, with 7 sets in 2027 and 7 sets in 2028. To support this, a new 18,000-square-meter high-speed train factory in Sakarya is currently 90% complete. Once operational, this facility will allow for the integrated production, assembly, and testing of trains, with a target capacity of one train set per month.
