Turkey agricultural sectors begin new harvest seasons
Agricultural production and harvest activities are underway across several key regions in Turkey. In Ayvalık, the 2026/2027 olive season has officially commenced with the first harvests. Producers expect a high yield, with targets reaching approximately 400,000 tons of olive oil and up to 800,000 tons of table olives, driven by favorable weather conditions.
In Kahramanmaraş, walnut producers are preparing for a harvest expected to yield between 45,000 and 50,000 tons. The Ceviz Diyarı Ekolojik Tarım Turizm Geliştirme Kooperatifi has set recommended sales prices for the 2026 season at 250 TL/kg for wholesale and 320 TL/kg for retail.
In Antalya, a major fruit and vegetable hub, producers report that while climate conditions allow for year-round production, supply chain costs—including packaging, labor, and transport—can double the price of goods between the farm and the consumer. Meanwhile, in the Söke Plain of Aydın, the cotton season has begun, with the first harvest sold at a symbolic price of 100 TL per kilogram.
