Turkey begins School Adaptation Week for new academic year
The Turkish Ministry of National Education is launching School Adaptation Week for the 2026-2027 academic year. The program targets preschool, 1st-grade, and 5th-grade students to facilitate their transition into new educational environments through play-based modules and social activities.
Preschool and 1st-grade students will participate in a five-day program from September 7 to September 11, while 5th-grade students will have a three-day orientation. To support families, public sector employees with children in these grades may request up to three hours of administrative leave to attend the sessions.
Regional preparations are underway to support the new term. In Ağrı, 158 schools have undergone maintenance, repairs, and landscaping, with 48 schools receiving natural gas conversions for heating. In Altınordu, municipal teams conducted extensive cleaning of school grounds and common areas to ensure a healthy environment for returning students. The official first day of the academic year is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026.
