Turkey celebrates religious milestones in hafizlık ceremonies

In Turkey, several religious milestones were celebrated regarding Quranic memorization (hafizlık). In the Akhisar district, the 48th Hafizlık Ceremony was held at the Hilaliye Male Quran Course, where 76 male students received their certificates. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı Vice President Dr. Hüseyin Hazırlar, who emphasized that memorization is a significant responsibility and a blessing.

Separately, the national final for the Quran Courses Hafizlık Competition for female students took place in Mardin. Hosted by the Mardin Provincial Mufti, the competition featured regional winners from seven different areas. Esma Şahin from Gaziantep Şahinbey was declared the winner of the national final. Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun attended the event, noting that being a hafiz involves not only memorizing verses but also living by the moral guidance of the Quran.
