Turkey Central Bank reserves rise to $159.7 billion

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) reported that total reserves reached $159.694 billion for the week ending 3 July, an increase of $10.489 billion from the prior week.

Gross foreign‑exchange reserves grew by $7.701 billion to $61.952 billion, while gold holdings rose by $2.788 billion to $97.742 billion. The data series shows a steady upward trend in total reserves since January 2024, moving from $137.161 billion in January to the current level.

A separate analytical piece explains Turkey’s reserve framework, distinguishing gross and net reserves and listing sources such as gold, convertible foreign currencies, IMF SDR allocations, swaps and external borrowing. It notes that net reserve changes depend on internal foreign‑currency liabilities and that balance‑sheet figures alone cannot fully capture resource utilisation.
