Turkey chemical industry targets US and Asian markets amid export growth

Turkey's chemical industry reported a 4.6 percent increase in exports during the first eight months of the year, reaching a total of 22.8 billion dollars. While Europe remains the primary market due to geographic proximity and logistical advantages, the sector is actively seeking to diversify into alternative markets including the United States, the Gulf countries, Asia, and Latin America.

According to Vefa İbrahim Aracı, President of the Istanbul Chemical and Allied Goods Exporters Association, Spain, Italy, the United States, and Germany were the top export destinations for the period. Aracı also noted that geopolitical developments in the region, specifically the reconstruction needs in Syria and Iraq, present significant opportunities for chemical products such as plastics, paints, construction chemicals, and hygiene products.
