Turkey: CHP disciplinary board upholds expulsions, doctors' union calls for urgent reforms

The CHP High Disciplinary Board rejected appeals against the expulsions of four provincial chairmen—Batman’s Hüseyin Yaşar, Bursa’s Nihat Yeşiltaş, Bitlis’s Metin Güzelkaya, Istanbul’s Özgür Çelik—and the mayor of Mezitli in Mersin, Serkan Tuncer. The board indicated that final decisions on their expulsion files will be taken at the July 13 meeting.

The Turkish Doctors' Union (Hekim Birliği) presented five urgent reform demands, including a call to double on‑call wages, eliminate incentive payment cuts, ensure fair distribution of incentives, raise the fixed supplement that counts toward retirement, and remove financial penalties applied to family doctors during leave. General President Hatice Çerçi Balcı warned that if the demands are not met, the union is ready to launch a democratic and legitimate action process involving its more than 30,000 members.
