Turkey closes most of Kazdağları National Park to visitors from June 15 to curb forest fires

The Balıkesir Governor’s Office, together with the Forest Fire Combat Commission (decision 2026/1), announced that the majority of Kazdağları (Kazdağları) National Park will be closed to the public from 15 June to 30 September 2026. The restriction covers roughly 19,000 hectares of forest across the Balıkesir and Çanakkale provinces, including the Kazdağı Göknarı nature reserve and several fire‑sensitive routes such as Beypınarı, Düden, Kirsealan, Tavşanoynağı, Çamlıbel, Tahtakuşlar, Akyer, Güre Kavurmacılar and Zığındere.

Four day‑use areas will remain open: the Yayla Çadırlı Karavanlı Camp Area, Hasanboğuldu day‑use zone, Pınarbaşı day‑use zone and the Cam Seyir Terrace. Authorities will increase patrols and enforcement, and violators may face legal action. The measures aim to lower the risk of forest fires during the hot summer months.
