Turkey introduces joint damage and value‑loss assessment for traffic insurance
Effective 1 July 2026, Turkey’s traffic‑insurance regulator (SEDDK) will calculate vehicle value‑loss compensation together with damage costs in a single expert report. The change makes the value‑loss component a mandatory part of the technical inspection, eliminating the need for a separate claim process and aiming to shorten payouts and reduce disputes.
TOBB insurance‑expert committee chair Ahmet Nedim Erdem said the reform aligns with the “real loss” principle, standardises expert practice nationwide and obliges insurers to appoint an expert for claims exceeding 40 000 TL. The new rules are expected to improve transparency, speed and fairness for millions of policyholders.
