Turkey commemorates 105th anniversary of Sakarya Victory

Turkey is commemorating the 105th anniversary of the Battle of Sakarya, a decisive turning point in the Turkish War of Independence. Various institutions and officials have held events to honor the historical victory and the fallen soldiers who fought for national sovereignty.

In Ankara, the Metropolitan Municipality organized commemorative programs, including historical lectures by Dr. Selim Erdoğan and guided tours to significant battle sites such as Mangal Dağı and Duatepe. These activities aimed to deepen the public's understanding of the strategic importance of the battle, which halted enemy advances and shifted the military momentum from defense to offense.

The Yozgat Governor's Office also issued a message honoring the victory, emphasizing that the battle was a testament to the Turkish people's determination to protect their independence. Historians note that the victory not only boosted national morale but also strengthened the international legitimacy of the Ankara Government.
