Turkey conducts disaster response and first aid training in Aydın and Ankara

In Aydın, Turkey, a pilot training program for Hospital Disaster Teams (HAT) has commenced. Hosted by the Aydın Provincial Health Directorate in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the three-day program involves 25 health workers, including five specialized teams composed of doctors and medical staff. The HAT model, inspired by international Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT), aims to enable hospitals to provide rapid, coordinated, and effective responses during the critical period before external professional support arrives. Training covers disaster management, triage, evacuation, and hospital-wide intervention.

Simultaneously, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is conducting first aid and disaster awareness training for daycare teachers and administrators in the Çankaya district. These sessions focus on managing childhood accidents—such as burns, choking, and falls—as well as disaster preparedness, including earthquake safety, fire fighting, and the safe evacuation of children, including those with special needs.
