Turkey conducts disaster response and industrial accident drills

Various disaster response and emergency management drills were conducted in Turkey to strengthen regional preparedness.

In Kırıkkale, a large-scale industrial accident drill was held under the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP). The exercise simulated a chemical gas leak scenario and involved 257 personnel and 239 vehicles. Support from AFAD directorates in Ankara, Çankırı, Çorum, Kırşehir, and Yozgat was utilized to test 26 different incident scenarios. The drill included tabletop evaluations and field exercises focusing on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) response, as well as hospital emergency protocols.

In Ortahisar, the ORTAK team conducted a specialized training camp in the Araklı district. The exercise focused on GPS navigation, hazardous materials (HAZMAT) response, and rapid deployment. Participants practiced establishing secure camp areas, conducting gas detection, and setting up essential infrastructure such as medical, logistics, and sanitation units to manage the critical first 72 hours following a disaster.
