Turkey conducts major operations against illegal betting networks

Turkish law enforcement has conducted several large-scale operations targeting illegal betting and gambling networks across multiple provinces.

A major operation coordinated by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and supported by the Cyber Crimes Department targeted 33 provinces, resulting in the apprehension of 119 suspects. These individuals were accused of facilitating illegal online betting by collecting bank accounts and GSM lines from third parties to move illicit funds.

In other regional investigations, significant financial flows were uncovered. A Kırıkkale-centered operation involving eight provinces identified a criminal organization that laundered over 1.2 billion lira through bank accounts and cryptocurrency platforms. This group reportedly used personal data stolen via “panel” systems to open fraudulent accounts.

Additionally, an Izmir-centered operation involving four provinces led to the arrest of 27 suspects, with authorities detecting approximately 1.8 billion lira in suspicious transactions. Another investigation involving 16 provinces, prompted by a MASAK report, identified 6.2 billion lira in money movement between 2023 and 2025, leading to 29 arrests. In Mersin, a separate crackdown on a network using 13 company accounts revealed a transaction volume exceeding 1.5 billion lira, resulting in 26 arrests.
