Turkey conducts large‑scale smuggling busts in Eskişehir and Diyarbakır

Turkish law‑enforcement agencies carried out simultaneous raids against illegal trade networks in two provinces. In Eskişehir, police seized more than 3.1 million empty rolling papers, 157,300 filled papers, about 970 kg of cut tobacco and related equipment, arresting five suspects who were later detained.

In Diyarbakır, gendarmerie units uncovered tons of contraband tea, over 5,700 packs of cigarettes, 5,570 packs of heated tobacco, 800 electronic cigarettes, 5 kg of tobacco and assorted electronic devices. Seventy‑six suspects were identified and legal proceedings were initiated against them. Both operations are part of an ongoing crackdown on smuggling and organized crime in Turkey.
