Turkey conducts nationwide irregular migration inspections

The Turkish Ministry of Interior has announced the results of large-scale, simultaneous inspections targeting irregular migration and human trafficking across 81 provinces. The operations were conducted through the coordinated efforts of the Directorate General of Migration Management, the General Directorate of Security, the Gendarmerie General Command, and the Coast Guard Command.

During the inspections, which spanned 3,229 locations including 2,214 abandoned buildings and 3,893 public venues, authorities performed identity checks on 279,575 individuals. The operations resulted in the apprehension of 19 migrant smuggling organizers and 230 irregular migrants. Authorities have initiated procedures to return the identified irregular migrants to their countries of origin.
