Turkish irregular migration enforcement operations

Overview

Turkey has implemented large-scale security operations to combat irregular migration and human trafficking. On September 25, the Ministry of Interior conducted simultaneous inspections across 81 provinces, targeting over 3,000 locations including abandoned buildings and public venues. These coordinated efforts resulted in identity checks for approximately 279,575 individuals, the apprehension of 230 irregular migrants, and the arrest of 19 smuggling organizers.

Following these nationwide actions, localized enforcement continued in Bursa. Police operations in the Osmangazi and Yıldırım districts focused on undocumented foreign nationals and illegal employment. Authorities identified several foreign workers employed without permits and apprehended suspects for allegedly providing illegal housing and employment for a fee. Undocumented individuals identified during these provincial inspections were referred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for deportation proceedings.
