Turkey conducts nationwide operations against organized crime and drug networks

Turkish authorities have launched extensive security operations targeting organized crime and drug trafficking networks. In a coordinated effort involving 58 provinces, the Ministry of Interior and various intelligence agencies conducted simultaneous raids against next-generation crime organizations. These operations resulted in the detention of 348 suspects. Investigators found that many of these groups used social media and communication platforms to recruit hitmen, promote criminal activities, and manage disputes between rival gangs.

In a separate major crackdown, an international drug trafficking network was dismantled through a joint investigation involving Interpol and Europol. The operation targeted individuals responsible for the production and distribution of heroin across multiple countries, including Germany, the Netherlands, Iran, and North Macedonia. Authorities identified several key figures, referred to as “barons,” who managed different stages of the narcotics supply chain.

Additionally, local operations in Konya led to the seizure of 12 kilograms of cannabis and thousands of doses of synthetic cannabinoids, resulting in four arrests. In Van, a large-scale investigation into financial crimes, including qualified fraud and illegal betting, uncovered suspicious transactions totaling over 2.3 billion lira, leading to 11 arrests.
