Kaşif Kozinoğlu investigation: Former prosecutors and cellmates detained

A new investigation has been launched by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the 2011 death of former MİT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu at Silivri Prison. Kozinoğlu died in November 2011 after falling ill; while the case was initially closed in 2012 with a decision of non-prosecution, the investigation was reopened following a review by the Ministry of Justice's Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department.

As part of simultaneous operations in Istanbul and Ankara, several suspects have been detained. These include former Silivri Chief Prosecutor Ali İşgören and former prison prosecutor Necip Doğan, both of whom were previously dismissed from their positions due to FETÖ investigations. Also detained are Kozinoğlu’s former cellmates, retired Naval Captain Hasan Ataman Yıldırım and retired Gendarmerie Colonel Hasan Atilla Uğur.

Hasan Atilla Uğur, who was identified as being in Cyprus at the time the orders were issued, was detained at Istanbul Airport upon his return to Turkey. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek emphasized the ministry's determination to uncover the truth behind the suspicious death, regardless of the time elapsed.
