Turkey discusses energy cooperation with Japan and EU ambassadors
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar has emphasized the importance of bilateral and regional cooperation to address the global energy crisis. During a ceremony for former Ambassador Hasan Murat Mercan, Bayraktar highlighted the strong partnership between Turkey and Japan across energy, trade, industry, and culture as a model for overcoming modern supply chain disruptions.
Additionally, Bayraktar met with the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Aivo Orav, and ambassadors from EU member states to discuss enhancing energy ties. The discussions focused on renewable energy, the role of natural gas, and the contribution of nuclear energy to supply security. Bayraktar noted that Turkey aims to increase the capacity of its electricity and natural gas transmission lines to serve as a reliable supply route for the European market and support Europe’s energy security and net-zero goals.
