CHP Yüksek Disiplin Kurulu rejects appeals of five party officials

The Republican People’s Party (CHP) High Disciplinary Board (Yüksek Disiplin Kurulu, YDK) met and rejected the appeals of five party officials who had been sent for expulsion. The denied appeals concerned four provincial chairmen – Istanbul provincial chairman Özgür Çelik, Bursa provincial chairman Nihat Yeşiltaş, Batman provincial chairman Hüseyin Yaşar and Bitlis provincial chairman Metin Güzelkaya – and Mersin Mezitli municipality mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer. Their disciplinary measures remain in force.

In the same session the board upheld the expulsion of eight other MPs, while it lifted the disciplinary precaution against MP Gökhan Günaydın, allowing him to retain his group‑chairmanship. The party leadership, headed by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, stressed that the decisions are part of a broader effort to cleanse the party before an upcoming extraordinary congress.

The YDK, composed of 15 full members, has the authority to investigate, impose sanctions such as expulsion, and rule on appeals. The recent rulings signal a continued push for internal party discipline ahead of the scheduled congress.
