Turkey Enhances Forest Fire Readiness with Volunteer Training and Active Suppression

The Düzce Forest Administration launched a comprehensive training program for volunteer fire‑fighting teams, partnering with the Nezir and Anda Rescue Associations. Participants received theoretical instruction on fire causes, suppression techniques, protective equipment, and coordination procedures, followed by practical drills aimed at improving safety and effectiveness during the high‑risk summer season.

In Nizip district of Gaziantep, a forest fire near the Hancağız Dam was reported after a citizen call. Ground crews, fire engines, heavy equipment, and a firefighting helicopter responded, bringing the blaze largely under control. Ongoing extinguishing and cooling efforts continue, and an investigation into the fire’s origin has been opened.
