Turkey expands aerospace and aviation education initiatives

Turkey is expanding its aerospace and aviation education initiatives through regional programs and specialized academic institutions.

In Konya, the Selçuklu Municipality completed an Aviation and Space Summer Course organized by the Selçuklu Development and Technology Academy. The program, held at the Sille Nature School, provided middle and high school students with practical training in aerodynamics, rocket design, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drone football, and FPV drones. Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı stated that the courses aim to help youth discover their talents in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

In Bursa, the GUHEM (Gulf of Bursa Aviation and Space Museum) center has transitioned into a more robust academic institution. İbrahim Burkay, President of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), announced that GUHEM is now one of the top five aerospace education centers globally and serves as a key collaborator with the Turkish Space Agency. To support the nation's defense and industrial goals, the GUHEM Aviation and Space Technologies Science High School has commenced its academic term with an initial cohort of 48 students.
