Turkey Expands AI‑Based Drug Detection and Conducts Large‑Scale Narcotics Arrests

During the 60th International Cherry Festival in Tekirdağ, police units showcased the NARVAS (Narcotic Case Analysis System) artificial‑intelligence platform and the UYUMA mobile app, encouraging citizens to report drug‑related crimes anonymously. Officials also announced the construction of new police stations in the Aydoğdu and Muhittin neighborhoods to boost local security.

In a coordinated operation led by the Orhangazi Prosecutor’s Office, Turkish narcotics teams raided 45 locations across Bursa, Yalova, Istanbul and Ağrı. The raids resulted in 52 arrests, with 40 suspects detained and 23 already sentenced to prison. Six individuals received judicial supervision, and authorities said the crackdown aims to dismantle drug trafficking networks.

Both actions illustrate Turkey’s intensified use of technology and broader law‑enforcement efforts to combat illicit drug trade nationwide.
