Minister Göktaş announces social welfare updates in Diyarbakır

Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş visited Diyarbakır to discuss social service investments and national welfare programs. During her visit, she met with martyrs' families and veterans as part of the ‘Terror-Free Turkey’ initiative, emphasizing that the process of building a peaceful nation must include these groups.

Göktaş highlighted the expansion of the Family and Youth Fund, which provides interest-free marriage credits to young people. The program, which began in earthquake zones in 2024, was expanded nationwide in 2025. To date, 210,000 youths have benefited from the credit. The support includes 250,000 TL for those aged 18-25 and 200,000 TL for those aged 26-29, with a 48-month term and a two-year grace period. Recent updates have also increased the household income eligibility threshold to 2.5 times the gross minimum wage.

Additional benefits for credit recipients include priority access to İŞKUR employment services, dowry discounts at over 2,000 firms, and special quotas in TOKİ social housing projects.

Furthermore, the Minister reported that 3.3 million people have utilized the services of the 596 Family Support Centers (ADEM) since 2012. These centers provide vocational training, psychosocial support, and courses aimed at empowering women and protecting family integrity.
