Turkey expands marriage loan benefits, erasing debt for couples with two children

Turkey's Ministry of Family and Social Services announced new incentives for young couples taking out state‑supported marriage loans. The programme offers loans of 250,000 TL for applicants aged 18‑25 and 200,000 TL for those aged 26‑29. Couples who have a child receive a 12‑month loan repayment waiver, and those with two children have the entire loan balance cancelled, as Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said: "İki çocuk sahibi olanlara krediyi sıfırlıyoruz." Since its launch, roughly 100,000 couples have benefited, contributing to a rise in births to about 14,000 children. The measures are part of the government's broader family‑oriented policy aimed at reversing Turkey’s declining fertility rate.
