Turkey expands organized industrial zones to 374
At the opening of the ANKIROS 2026 Fair and the 23rd International Metallurgy and Materials Congress in Istanbul, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that the number of Organized Industrial Zones (OSBs) in Turkey has reached 374.
Minister Kacır highlighted the strength of the Turkish steel sector, noting it holds an annual production capacity of 62 million tons. He stated that Turkey is currently the largest steel producer in Europe and the seventh largest in the world. Despite a 2% contraction in global crude steel production last year due to weak demand and protectionist measures, the Turkish sector demonstrated resilience by diverging positively from global trends.
Regarding the casting industry, Kacır reported a turnover of approximately 8 billion euros last year, with direct exports exceeding 6 billion euros. To support industrial growth, the Ministry is providing financing through the Central Bank's Investment Committed Advance Loan Program, which has allocated 750 billion lira. For strategic investments exceeding 1 billion lira, the program offers a maximum financing cost of 12.95% with a 2-year principal grace period and a 10-year maturity.
