Turkish municipalities boost water infrastructure projects

Kırıkkale Municipality, led by Mayor Ahmet Önal, is installing a new 500 mm storm‑water pipe in Fatih Mahallesi to reduce garden flooding during heavy rains.

Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyesi is constructing a 2,500 m³ drinking‑water reservoir in Mudanya’s Söğütpınar neighbourhood. The depot, now 70 % complete, will supply uninterrupted water to ten local neighbourhoods and will later be linked to the Çınarcık Dam treatment plant.

Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi’s MESKİ directorate is expanding rain‑water drainage by laying a total of 6,400 m of pipe and building 200 drainage pits across the districts of Akdeniz, Toroslar, Yenişehir and Mezitli, aiming to curb flood risks.

Mardin Büyükşehir Belediyesi’s water agency (MARSU) has begun replacing a 10‑km, 40‑year‑old steel main water transmission line in Kabala Mahallesi with ductile‑iron pipes, improving durability and reducing water losses.
